The organization is designed to create and make available every opportunity for pleasure, enjoyment, and fellowship among its members. It is therefore directed that no less than a good time be had by all! The Pot & Puma (named for Frankoma's first trademark) is a journal written for the information, education and entertainment of collectors of Frankoma Pottery, and is designed to make its members the most knowledgeable, best educated collectors of anything anywhere. Joniece and Donna Frank, daughters of founders John and Grace Lee Frank, author a running feature article titled Joniece's Believe It Or Not, detailing little-known facts about Frankoma's history and production over seven decades, and revealing intimate stories about their artist parents. The Pot & Puma is filled with articles authored by various experts in the many facets of Frankoma collecting. Frankoma Family members are also encouraged to contribute articles and stories relating their serious, tragic and humorous collecting stories. Also welcome are other tales of common interest to other Frankoma collectors such as "Why I Collect Frankoma" and "How I Started Collecting Frankoma." Don't worry that you're not a writer! Our editor can do wonders with even a slim story line, and you'll always have the final approval of your story before it's printed. With membership comes also a second publication, the Prairie Green Sheet, dedicated exclusively to the buying, selling and trading of Frankoma collectibles among its members. And your ads are FREE! You may even place a "Wanted" ad to find whatever you may be searching for. Each September, a national convention we lovingly call a "Family Reunion" is held in Frankoma's hometown of Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Hundreds of Frankoma cousins from coast to coast gather to talk Frankoma, buy and sell Frankoma, and attend various seminars on identifying your collection, with Frankoma clays, marks, and glazes. What you'll find is good friendship, fellowship, and the trading of many fun Frankoma stories. Also included are tours of the Frank home/museum, a superb banquet, and a wonderfully spirited auction, proceeds of which fund the John Frank Memorial Scholarship Awards. The winners are outstanding junior, senior and graduate students of Ceramic Art from Oklahoma colleges and universities. Since its charter in 1995, FFCA now boasts of more than 1500 members in 45 states and Africa. New members are welcomed daily. Dues are $35 per year (guaranteed through December 31, 2003). For more information, you may write to FFCA, 1300 Luker Lane, Sapulpa, OK 74066-6024, call 918-224-6610 (noon through evening hours), or email ffca4donna@aol.com. When you become a member, people with answers to your questions will be standing by to communicate with you personally - via telephone, email or a letter. We want to know you, and we want you to know us. We are, after all, Family. And we'll be here for you! We hope we'll soon be saying . . . WELCOME TO THE FAMILY! |
